Personal Information:
Amber Bates received her BS in horticulture from Texas Tech University in 2005 and her MS in horticulture from Texas Tech University in 2007. She is currently working towards her Ph.D. in Agronomy from Texas Tech University. Amber has taught PSS 1411 Introduction to Horticulture labs for 5 years. Since beginning her Ph.D. she has also taught PSS 1411 Introduction to Horticulture lecture. She is a member of American Society of Horticulture Science; Southern Region, Gamma Sigma Delta, and Pi Alpha Xi.
Research:
During her masters, Amber researched the response of Texas and Florida Live Oak (Quercus virginiana) seedlings to water deficit. For her Ph.D. she is looking at increasing oil content and harvest ease of Evening primrose (Oenothera spp.) for use in the medicinal and cosmetics industries.
