Personal Information:
I received a B.S degree in Agricultural Education from Texas Tech University in 1989, a M.S. degree in Crop Science from Texas Tech University in 1991, and a Ph.D. degree in Agronomy from The University of Arkansas in 1995. From 1996 to 2006 I was a faculty member at the University of Georgia in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences. While at the University of Georgia, I held a 100% research position. In April 2006 I began my current position.
I now hold a joint appointment with Texas Tech University (75%) and Texas AgriLife Research (25%). I teach courses in Crop Physiology; Grain, Fiber and Oil Seed Crops; Plant and Soil Water Relations; and Irrigation Management. My primary areas of research interest are 1) cotton and grain sorghum water use efficiency and 2) cotton fiber quality. I am a member of the American Society of Agronomy and the Crop Science Society of America and serve as associate editor for the American Society of Agronomy Journal and the Crop Science Society of America Journal.
I am also involved in many outreach activities for our department. I have been asked to speak at several county meetings and industry functions. I hope opportunities such as these will be good exposure for Texas Tech University and Texas AgriLife Research.
