Personal Information:
Wayne H. Hudnall is the B. L. Allen Endowed Chair for Pedology. He obtained his B. S. and M. S. degrees in Soil Science from Texas Tech University. He was awarded a Ph. D. in Agronomy and Soil Science from the University of Hawaii, Manoa. He served as an Assistant Professor in the Plant Science Department at West Texas A& M University, Canyon, Texas for threes years and is Professor Emeritus in Department of Agronomy and Environmental Management, Louisiana State University from which retied after 25 years of service.
Research Interests:
His principal areas of focus include soil genesis, classification, mineralogy, hydric soils, wetland delineation and agronomic requirements. Other areas of expertise include soil mapping, geomorphology, nutrient management, requirements for septic systems installation, remote sensing and GIS. He has been awarded research grants to study the remediation of drastically disturbed land; identification and delineation of hydric soils and wetlands; and carbon sequestration within the coastal marsh, natural occurring prairies within the Kisatchie National Forest and soil moisture and temperature regimes of southern Vertisols. He teaches Soil Classification, Soil Mineralogy and Pedology. Dr. Hudnall is the chairperson of the USDA-NRCS International Committee on Soil Moisture and Temperature Regimes (ICOMMOTR). Dr. Hudnall is a Fellow of SSSA and was elected in 2002 as ASA-SSSA board rep for Division S-9. He serves as a member of the ASA-CSSA-SSSA awards and fellows selection committee.
